The origin of Mount Wutai?

Buddhism originated from India and was introduced into China during the Han Dynasty. As a result of Buddhism, Mount Wutai began its historical journey as a Buddhist shrine. Wutai Mountain was originally called Zifu Mountain, also known as Wufeng Mountain. It used to be a place for Taoist monks to practice. During the reign of Yongping in the Eastern Han Dynasty, Emperor Mingdi sent his people to the west to seek the road. On the way, he met the Indian eminent monks, Kaya Moteng and Zhu Faran, and asked them to return to Luoyang together. Then they saw the reiki of Mount Wufeng with the eye of heaven, and thought it was the ashram where Manjusri preached sutras, so they wanted to build a temple here to worship Manjusri. But the Taoist priests here did not agree, and finally asked Emperor Mingdi of Han and got his consent to build a Buddhist temple here, the first temple built is now Xiantong Temple. Since then, after the construction and expansion of various dynasties and the development of nearly 2000 years, Wutai Mountain has been full of temples, pagodas, sculptures and paintings. This laid the foundation for the formation of the Buddhist holy land on Mount Wutai. Wutai Mountain is the first of the four famous Buddhist mountains in China with its long history and grand scale of Buddhist temples.
